Signs of the Presence of ‘Amar’ in the House and Ways to Get Rid of Them There is no house without 'Amar,' and this is what the Prophet ﷺ informed us. I want to clarify that 'Amar' have a nature and behavior similar to humans, as confirmed in the sayings of the Prophet ﷺ. Pay close attention and focus with me. First, Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari was praying in his house when a companion entered to visit him. Houses at that time were roofed with straw and reeds. The companion saw a snake on the ceiling and attempted to kill it, but Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari stopped him, saying: "Do you not know the story of the young man who was in the Battle of the Trench?" The companion replied that he did not, so Abu Musa explained that the Prophet ﷺ forbade killing anything that appears in the house without warning it three times. The story of this young man is that he was newly married and sought permission from the Prophet ﷺ to return home. Upon arrival, he found his wife standing outside in an inappropriate manner, so he wanted to strike her with his spear. However, she urged him to wait and enter the house first. When he did, he found a huge snake on the bed and immediately killed it with his spear—but at that moment, he also died. When the young man was brought to the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "In Medina, there are Muslim jinn. If you see anything from the creatures of the house, warn it three times. If it appears again after that, then kill it." Identifying the presence of harmful 'Amar' can be done by observing certain signs, such as lights turning on and off without reason or frequent burnouts. One of the reasons 'Amar' may cause harm is disrespecting food. In the past, our ancestors would place leftover food outside for birds, cats, and dogs, which could sometimes be Muslim jinn. These beings would then pray for the household’s blessing and protect it from harm, magic, and envy by Allah’s will. Therefore, leftovers should not be thrown in the trash but given to creatures in need, as the Prophet ﷺ advised. If you notice these signs, it could mean the 'Amar' in your house are harmful. To ensure protection, engage in dhikr (remembrance of Allah), recite the Quran regularly, and dispose of food properly. Some signs of their presence include: An infestation of cockroaches and insects despite repeated cleaning. A foul smell coming from clothes in the wardrobe. Scratches or writings appearing on the walls. Worms appearing in the kitchen with no known source. Feeling a shadow passing by you or breath behind you while sleeping. Children waking up terrified and crying at night. Persistent tension and anxiety in the house. Marital disputes and discomfort in the home. Frequent cooking failures, restless children, and endless conflicts. All these could indicate the presence of harmful 'Amar.' They may also appear in the form of a black snake. Do not kill it immediately—first, command it in the name of Allah to leave. If it returns, then kill it as the Prophet ﷺ instructed. Do not harm any creature before verifying, as it could be a Muslim jinn. Be cautious of harming stray cats or dogs that frequently visit your home. In an old village, there was a haunted house where anyone who entered would either go insane or die. A religious student rented the house, and while praying, a Muslim jinn appeared to him. The jinn told him that he only harmed wrongdoers, but they became friendly over time. One day, a spell was used to banish the jinn, and he fell to the ground, appearing in human form. He warned the student never to return, as he would die, and his family would seek revenge. As soon as the student left the house, he heard screams and chaos inside. I want to tell you that jinn have emotions and feelings just like humans. Do not think they are unaware of forbidden acts and sins—they do, just as you do. When an evil shaytan sees you engaging in unholy acts, he manipulates you, and this is a great danger. Once he takes control of you, he will never leave your body, surrounding you and causing harm and troubles. Snakes may appear in dreams—if they repeatedly appear in a specific place, it indicates impurity in that location. A clear example of this occurred when some of the Prophet’s companions saw a snake, chased it, and it hid in a hole. The Prophet ﷺ commanded them to pour water into the hole and then kill it because snakes have a pact with Iblis (Satan). They are natural enemies of humans, as it is said that Iblis entered Paradise through a snake to whisper to Adam. Originally, snakes had four legs. 'Amar' live among you and take on your characteristics—if you are righteous, they will be righteous; if you are sinful, they will be sinful. They are influenced by you. How to Protect Yourself and Your Home Remove images and statues from your home. Recite daily adhkar (remembrances of Allah). Play the Quran in your house regularly. Pray inside your home, not just at the mosque. Invite guests to eat in your home to bring blessings. Recite Surahs Al-Zalzalah, As-Saffat, Al-Ma’arij, Al-Bayyina, At-Taghabun, and Al-Jumu’ah, along with Surah Al-Baqarah, over water mixed with salt, and sprinkle it around the house’s corners and walls. Recite Ayat Al-Kursi in every corner while making the call to prayer (Adhan). By following these steps, all types of jinn and devils will be expelled, and your home will be filled with angels and blessings. Share your experiences in the comments! Tell us if you have seen anything strange so others can learn from your story and understand their dreams. If you have encountered 'Amar' or witnessed something unusual, let us know. Best regards, Your brother, Yusuf Ahmed May you always be safe in Allah’s protection. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you
